# Choose how to add your data

> Compare bank linking, CSV import, supported YNAB import, and manual entry so you can choose the right way to add financial data to Miyo.

Miyo offers more than one way to start. You can use one path now and add another later.

| **Connect Bank** | Your institution is available and bank sync is enabled for your account | Supported balances and transactions | Categories, notes, and any sync issues |

| **YNAB import**  | You are moving existing YNAB data into Miyo                             | Nothing after the import            | New activity after the exported period |

## Connect Bank

Use this when you want supported account and transaction data to refresh through Plaid. Availability depends on Miyo access, your institution, and Plaid approval.

## Import CSV

Use a CSV when your bank can export transaction history but you do not want a persistent connection. Miyo can auto-detect common formats, and you can select a bank format when needed.

## YNAB import

Use **Open YNAB import** from the first-data chooser when you are switching from YNAB. Review the import summary before treating Miyo as your new source of planning data.

## Add manually

Use a manual account for cash, an unsupported institution, a private balance you only want to maintain yourself, or a quick setup without transaction history.

  A small first setup is better than an incomplete full setup. Add the account you use most, review the result, then add the rest.
