# Troubleshoot bank sync

> Troubleshoot linked-bank sync problems in Miyo, including delayed balances, missing transactions, reconnect requests, and institution errors.

Bank data can be delayed by the institution, Plaid, or a connection that needs new consent. Start with the least disruptive action.

## Choose the right action

<Steps>
  <Step title="Check whether bank sync is available">
    If the button says **Bank Sync Pending**, the connection feature is not currently available for your account. Use manual accounts or CSV import rather than repeating the connection flow.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Verify your Miyo email">
    Complete email verification if Miyo asks before opening Plaid Link.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the institution status">
    Open **Settings → Linked accounts**. Note the institution status, last sync time, and any error message.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Use Sync now once">
    Select **Sync now**, wait for the request to finish, then refresh **Transactions**. Repeatedly selecting **Sync now** does not make the institution post data sooner.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Reconnect when asked">
    Use **Reconnect** for an expired login, changed password, institution consent request, or new verification challenge.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Compare with the institution">
    Check whether the missing item is still pending at the bank. Posted details can differ from the pending version.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Avoid duplicate accounts

Do not create a second connection for the same institution only because a sync is delayed. If Miyo suggests merging a manual and linked account, compare their names, balances, and history before accepting.

## When to disconnect

Disconnect when you no longer want Miyo to refresh the institution, not as the first fix for a temporary outage. Disconnecting applies to every account under that institution and does not erase existing imported transactions.

## Contact support
