Add another
Assign the full target again each period, even when money is left over. Use this when you want the category to accumulate. Good fits include:- Building a travel fund every month.
- Setting aside a fixed amount for gifts throughout the year.
- Growing a maintenance reserve beyond the current balance.
Refill available
Assign only enough to restore the available balance to the target. Use this when you want to maintain a capped reserve. Good fits include:- Keeping a fixed buffer for household repairs.
- Restoring a monthly spending allowance after use.
- Maintaining a capped reserve without accumulating above it.
Compare the result
Add another can keep accumulating after the available balance reaches the target. Refill available needs no new assignment while the category is already full.
